Some time ago we received news about new Locktender split with guys from Cassilis. As I already described ex-Men As Trees' members band I'll skip it now. And back to Cassilis, two words: dirty and noisy (or three words? who cares...). I actually can't find any band playing similar kind of screamo right now or maybe I just don't remember one. Guys are from Philadelphia, PA and members are known from playing in such bands like: Boys & Sex, Make Me, Snowing, and The Lady Is Not For Burnin.

One of the most recognizable post-metal/sludge bands, next to Isis and Cult of Luna. Formed by previous members of the band Tusk, the instrumental post-metal outfit Pelican formed in Chicago in 2001, by guitarists Trevor de Brauw and Laurent Lebec with sibling rhythm section Larry Herweg and Bryan Herweg. Amazing band, you should definitively check them out.

Obscure Sphinx

The Obscure Sphinx project was formed in 2008 with a specific goal in mind: to grab the listener’s hand, take him on the brink of madness, tell him about it, and bring him back safely. Their live perfomances resemble dark rituals of untold fears and shrieking repressed emotions. Although musically they seem to have found their place somewhere between post and doom metal, they are not afraid to search for inspirations in other genres. Constantly toying with conventions, Obscure Sphinx merges sonic spaces and electronic samples with the crushing combo of 8-string guitars and 6-string bass rhythmics. All of this is flavoured by a unique voice of the vocalist.

...and Jesu is that other side. But in my opinion, now it's different band. When something that amazing, complex and so complete like Jesu was divided, for me as a longtime fan, it's really hard to get used to that change. But it's still good album, different, little odd, but somehow great.

Old Man Gloom

Old Man Gloom (In Full: The Old Man Gloom Alien Simian Defence League) is a sludge band, with many ambient and soundscape elements. They originally formed in 1999 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, United States, but are now based in Massachusetts. The group, formed by Aaron Turner of Isis and Santos Montano have now expanded to become a sort of supergroup in the Boston hardcore and metalcore scene. The group is less a band than it is a recording project for a variety of local talent. By the release of their first album (Meditations in B), Old Man Gloom expanded to include two new members, creating the following lineup:
