Crywank is James Clayton trying as hard as he can to do some folk-punk influenced acoustic music with no previous experience playing guitar. His first album “James is going to die soon” was written after a painful break up. Crywank states that “I wrote these songs out of frustration and sadness and they ended up making me feel a lot better, I hope they have a similar effect on you”.

Andrew 'Koji' Shiraki

Andrew “Koji” Shiraki is an American artist and activist from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He can be seen advocating with organizations such as Resolve on behalf of the child soldiers being used by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) in central and east Africa as well as Humility Now to help raise awareness about the homeless here in the United States. His concerts feature a combination of music, storytelling, media and visual art, all aimed at empowering youth to create positive, lasting change and build community.

Eric Ayotte

Eric Ayotte is a Halo Fauna's singer in his solo acoustic project, which seem to be some kind of the rage of current days. Sometimes tagged as 'punk', probably because of his lyrical discontent of a present world connected with motivation and determination to be happy, better and stronger at the same time! Suprisingly his music is so light, funny and catchy. When I was on his gig some time ago with Portugeses from Adorno (Eric is their good friend, what was visible during the show), amazing thing was that everybody from the crew sang his songs on a full throat with so much passion and energy and everything in magical familiar atmosphere. That was remarkable! Recently he put out an album of songs he wrote to his grandfather’s poetry. It’s some pretty amazing stuff.

Chuck Ragan

Chuck Ragan is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. From 1993 until 2006 he was one of the lead singers for Gainesville, Florida-based punk rock band Hot Water Music. The group disbanded in 2006, and the other three members went on to form punk band The Draft, while Ragan launched a solo career playing folk music. He has since released a series of 7-inches on No Idea Records, and a live album (Los Feliz) and two studio albums (Feast or Famine, Gold Country) on Side One Dummy. Hot Water Music reformed in 2008, while Chuck still performs and records solo material on the side.

Cicada

Cicada is a young instrumental band from Taiwan. Their music is a piece of composition contain acoustic guitar, cello, 2 violins and piano (1 guy and 4 girls). This fusion of classical instruments and their origin makes them sound intriguing, absorbing, magnetic and a little bit oriental. Their only release is this handmade EP (DIY?;) ). This is probably only one band from Taiwan I know, but for sure one of my favorite, even if the new one will appear. You can check them here and here (videos probably from some rehersals).

If you are fed up with heavy metal screamo - just check those guys from Germany. Vocalist plays on acoustic guitar and sings which make they sound softer, but there are also screams and hardcore parts.

Conor Oberst

Conor Oberst is an musician who played in several bands including Bright Eyes, Desaperacidos and Monsters Of Folk. Oberst began his musical career at age 13 and self-released his debut album Water. He is one of the founding members of the independent record label Saddle Creek Records.
