Brasstronaut

Brasstronaut are six people who (as it is claimed on lastfm) spend most of their time in a van. With a core lineup of trumpet, flugelhorn, piano and voice, this Vancouver band doesn't exactly arrive with a surfeit of referents. For people who love experimental jazz in some soft and gentle arrangement.

Ben Woods
Ben Woods was a full time student at the University of Plymouth UK, where all of his music was written and recorded. His music is written to audibly represent recent emotions and feelings with regard to situation, experience and circumstance.
His latest work is predominantly piano based but Ben is always working on the newest approach he discovers. He has been working on a series of acoustic guitar lead soundscapes and has also been experimenting with turning written acoustic songs into beautifully layered drones.’

Braveyoung consists of four constant individuals and a collection of others donating their input. Started in 2005 in North Carolina, United States under the moniker Giant, and in in late 2008 began to function under the name Braveyoung. As Giant they were heavier, played more post metal music. Their second face presents something more calm, ambientic, soft and post rock sounds - so atmospheric.

Dustin O'Halloran
Dustin O’Halloran is an American pianist, who has done work with Sara Lov for Devics and has also been featured on the soundtrack for the Sofia Coppola’s film “Marie Antoinette” (2006).
He first began classical training on the instrument at age 7. Six years of lessons were abruptly interrupted when he relocated to live with his father. O’Halloran would not touch the piano again for over a decade.
His reunion with the instrument began after meeting Sara Lov, a dynamic musician in her own right and one half of the creative force behind the Devics. Through writing music together with Lov, O’Halloran found his interest in piano reignited and his passion for the instrument slowly found its way into their songs.

Luigi Rubino

This is the first splendid album of Ashram’s pianist solo. Crystal notes of piano, nostalgia of violin, grace of Cello brings one into a very intense feeling of emotion, moving & intimist. Like an original soundtrack, the music draws the most peaceful & celestial timeless landscapes one can imagine. Luigi Rubino started playing and studying piano and liturgical organ when he was 10, with both Italian and foreign teachers.

Evan Abeele

Evan Abeele is definately specyfic artist. His music is a minimalistic mixture of samples and looped ambient tones with some monotonic piano sounds. As his myspace bio says: “Blending elements of modern classical, ambient, and minimalism into a style that evokes the sounds of Arvo Pärt by way of Boards of Canada. The compositions feature a microscopic focus on texture that emphasizes the relationship between the human organization of noise and sound. Deriving inspiration from the musique concrete movement of 1960’s France, the compositions forgo conventional classical aesthetics in favor of haunting, strangely familiar sounds.” Beautiful ambient music! Taste it!

Andrei Machado

Andrei Machado is a self-taught brazilian composer. His influences are neo-classical music and minimalist artists like Petel Broderick, Bosques De Mi Mente, Max Michta, Goldmund and Michael Andrews. With a soft touch and a mix of elegancy, Andrei Machado blends beautiful soundscapes with heartbreaking melodies, giving you, at the same time, the feeling of freedom and anxiety. And it’s deffinelly something a human being should experience.

F.S. Blumm & Nils Frahm

And there is a similiar situation as in post below. A blend of styles and kinds of music makes me decide to put this album apart from 'Nils Frahm' post. A collaboration between the Berliners F.S. Blumm and Nils Frahm create the improvisational and jazz-tinged digital album Music For Lovers Music Versus Time, contained beside neoclassical tones, also full of experimental sounds from life for example falling ping-pong ball, sounds of steps on stairs etc... So complicated, not easy-listening, but also so interested and intrigued.

Nils Frahm & Anne Müller

I've considered if add this album to the 'Nils Frahm' post, but finally I decided to set it apart. Reason? The music which is presented by this two people is completly different than this in his solo albums. Unknown for everybody Anne Müller add to the Nils' neo-classical music some kind of magic hidden in electronic sounds. For me it's the one of the best albums of the year and their mixtures of classical music and electronic sometimes are even better than masterpieces of Ólafur Arnalds!

Nils Frahm

Nils Frahm, born in 1982, had an early introduction to music. During his childhood he was taught to play piano by Nahum Brodski – a student of the last scholar of Tschaikowski. It was through this that Nils began to immerse himself in the styles of the classical pianists before him as well as contemporary composers. Today Nils Frahm works as an accomplished composer and producer in Berlin. For me, actually he is the one of the best modern yong artists from that genre.

点と線 (Ten To Sen / Dots And Lines)

点と線 / ten to sen (in english - Dots And Lines) is a side-project from two Spangle Call Lilli Line’s members: Ken Fujieda and Kiyoaki Sasahara. Their music is a mixture of soft and sensual sonuds of many instruments for example: violin, cello, piano, flute, guitar (elecric and acoustic), rattles, tambourine and I don't even know what else... Worth to check!

Cicada

Cicada is a young instrumental band from Taiwan. Their music is a piece of composition contain acoustic guitar, cello, 2 violins and piano (1 guy and 4 girls). This fusion of classical instruments and their origin makes them sound intriguing, absorbing, magnetic and a little bit oriental. Their only release is this handmade EP (DIY?;) ). This is probably only one band from Taiwan I know, but for sure one of my favorite, even if the new one will appear. You can check them here and here (videos probably from some rehersals).

Hummingbird

Hummingbird (not to be confused with the 70’s band of the same name) is the nom de plume of an otherwise well known composer behind the album “Our Fearful Symmetry”, which defines elements within the modern classical genre. It includes subtle string arrangements mixed with echoes of piano notes, fused with hallmarks of the electro-acoustic genre – waves of static, white noise and field recordings tangle with layers of fragmented texture that create both the foreground and background.
