Deconstruction and re-imagination. Skin Lake’s alternately bristling and lulling sound is that of archetypes deconstructed and re-envisioned; assimilated and intertwining, bumping up angrily against each other. Aspiring to more than merely a genre exercise, the New Bedford, Mass. quintet knowingly (and lovingly) dismantle the brutal self-indulgence of mid-90’s Screamo icons like Orchid and filter it back through a revolving set of stylistic lenses.

Old Man Gloom

Old Man Gloom (In Full: The Old Man Gloom Alien Simian Defence League) is a sludge band, with many ambient and soundscape elements. They originally formed in 1999 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, United States, but are now based in Massachusetts. The group, formed by Aaron Turner of Isis and Santos Montano have now expanded to become a sort of supergroup in the Boston hardcore and metalcore scene. The group is less a band than it is a recording project for a variety of local talent. By the release of their first album (Meditations in B), Old Man Gloom expanded to include two new members, creating the following lineup:

Nate Newton (also of Converge, Doomriders): guitar, vocals
Caleb Scofield (also of Cave In, Zozobra): bass guitar, vocals

Searching For Calm

Searching For Calm is a polish band from Sosnowiec, formed in 2002. IMO it's one of our best exporting goods. Here is the music that escapes simple divisions and constraints of a particular genre. The quintet refuses to numbly follow the ready-made patterns and cliches, mingling the rough sound with the unconventional rythmical solutions and a solid dose of moving melodies. A rock and roll bomb strongly marked with experimental tastes, emitting enough energy to endow half of the indie scene. With no unnecessary inhibitions but with a great range of appeal.

Thursday is an American rock band from New Jersey. Formed in 1997, the group has released six full-lenght albums, their most recent being No Devolucion, which was released in April 2011 on Epitath Records. Thursday has been credited as one of the bands most responsible for the mainstream of emo and post-hardcore alongside bands such as Sunny Day Real Estate, which has been stated to be one of the main influences for Thursday's sound.

Circadian Eyes is a solo music project of Bryan Collins from Saratoga Springs, New York. His music is piano-based with strings, ambience, and post-rock elements as well. As an influences he mentions some artists like Ólafur Arnalds or Sigur Rós. Gentle and soft sounds perfect to calm down and dreaming.

Snowing UPDATE!

Snowing was formed in 2008 in Lehigh Valley, United States by ex members of bands Street Smart Cyclist and Boyfriends. They're noisy, totally fucked up and loud. 'Fuck Your Emotional Bullshit' was a little masterpiece, in my opinion, but unfortunately I have forgotten about their new album. ICDWIWIIW is not as great as their debut EP, it's a little bit less explosive, but definetly worth a listen.
