Throats

Throats died 7th December 2010. That was not simply a hardcore band anymore. Bile, rage and despondency have organically mutated an already bitter and angry band into something far more extreme, reckless and dangerous. Throats have evolved into a monster that, whilst nodding to their own past, now encompass a sound that embraces elements of Napalm Death, Rotten Sound, crust and d-beat into their stoned, cosmic riffs and breakdowns. Throats didn’t do sing-a-longs. They didn’t do melodies. They didn’t do harmonies. In fact, the young quintet barely do songs. Instead they prefer to carve acidic hardcore from riffs that do both razor speed and steamroller intensity and a rhythm section that rumbles like an exploding airliner.

For sure I can say that this is full European band. Their name sounds French, their music is like some Icelandic post-rock band and they're from Austria. Isn't it quite nice mixture? As I wrote their music could be easy misleaded with some artists like Sigur Rós or something like that. But it's still nice to listen, and worth to check! Thy're from Vienna, Austria. The band was founded by Alex Mallory, Chris Augusti and Nico Sieder in 2008.

Obscure Sphinx

The Obscure Sphinx project was formed in 2008 with a specific goal in mind: to grab the listener’s hand, take him on the brink of madness, tell him about it, and bring him back safely. Their live perfomances resemble dark rituals of untold fears and shrieking repressed emotions. Although musically they seem to have found their place somewhere between post and doom metal, they are not afraid to search for inspirations in other genres. Constantly toying with conventions, Obscure Sphinx merges sonic spaces and electronic samples with the crushing combo of 8-string guitars and 6-string bass rhythmics. All of this is flavoured by a unique voice of the vocalist.

Quite interesting beginning of, maybe in future, very good band!

Although the band is young, it is already making a name for itself, developing a strong local fan base by consistently playing shows.
